Why was my payment/ credit card declined?

Did you receive a message that your payment/ credit card was not accepted? Please check for the following issues:

  • Did you fill in the correct credit cards? Maybe a typo happened.
  • We do not accept debit cards. Please chose a credit card.
  • We do not accept American Express credit cards (AMEX).
  • Did you maybe reach the limit of your credit card? Please get in touch with your bank to get more information.
  • Are you paying with a credit card from a country that is not using EURO? Maybe your card can’t be charged with a foreign currency. Please get in touch with your bank to get more information.

Still didn’t find the solution? Please get in touch with your credit card company, they might be able to help you finding the issue.

For a successful reservation, it is mandatory to provide us with a valid credit card. Unfortunately we can not accept payments via PayPal, bank transfer or payments on arrival.

Breakfast - woke up hungry?

Opening times:

Monday – Friday : 06.30 – 10.00 am      

Saturday/Sunday : 06.30 – 11.00 am

Prices:

Breakfast can be booked on spot at the reception. Regular price is 9,50 Euro/day, 6-16 years old pay 4,50 Euro, free of charge for children up to 5 years.

(During low season from 5th of November 2018 to 3rd of February 2019 adults pay only 7,50 Euro/day)

Woke up hungry? Our breakfast offers you an all-you-can-eat buffet, including bio products, bread rolls, cereals, fresh fruits and changing specialties from around the world. Also vegan and gluten-free products are provided. Choose between juices, coffee, hot chocolate and tea.

Seating areas: 

Breakfast is offered on two areas. School classes have breakfast in the seating area of the restaurant the Hungry Bear, individual guests on the second floor (accessible through first floor or stairs next to The Hungry Bear Bar).

Our restaurant The Hungry Bear hasn't opened yet. We excuse for any inconvenience caused. Our Café Martha is offering a reduced menu. Additionally you can find restaurants at nearby Ostbahnhof or Mercedes Benz Platz.

Martha’s story:

Martha owns a cute little café in Lisbon. When you look out of the window you can already see the glistening sea. This is where Schulz met Martha: Spending time in her Café he did not only fall in love with her delicious coffee but also with her beautiful smile.

Schulz Coffee:

The coffee that Martha is selling is not only delicious: It is also fair trade. One of the places where the beans are produced is the cooperative Comsa in Honduras. The cooperative helps small farmers to acchieve higher prices in the fiercely contested coffee market. It also encourages them to better protect the ecosystem and environment while growing their plants. Schulz Coffee is produced in cooperation with Heimbs.

Opening times: 24/7, no registration needed

Schulz‘ guest kitchen is the perfect place if you like to cook. The kitchen is equipped with stove, oven, fridge as well as cutlery, tableware and pots. This service is free of charge. A supermarket is located at the nearby train station Ostbahnhof – here you can shop groceries daily until midnight.

The booked room is available until 11:00 on the agreed day of departure.

Late check-out: 

We can offer a late check-out until 2 pm. This service will be charged with an extra fee of EUR 10,00 per room.

This offer may be considered based on availability on the day of arrival and has to be booked additionally during the check-in.

Payment/ Cancellation

City Tax

Since 01.01.2014, a city tax of 5% on the room rate will be charged by Berlin city. Persons traveling on professional grounds are excluded from this tax. The Schulz Hotel GmbH must be provided with a relevant proof. Otherwise, the city tax will be charged.

Child discount – travelling with family?

Children up to 5 years stay for free in bed of parents. They won’t be charged for breakfast. Children from 6 to 16 years stay for free in the room of their parents. They can choose additional breakfast for 4,50 Euro per person.

 

Toddlers can be provided with a free baby crib and child’s chair. They receive a small gift upon arrival.

How can you make a reservation and pay?

When making a reservation through our website, it is unfortunately only possible to pay with a credit card. We do not accept debit cards or money transferal.

Please check information on your confirmation mail. Conditions depend on booked rate. 

Early bird rate:

The cost of the entire stay is due immidiately.

 

Best flexible Rate:

The whole booking amount will be due for payment 1 days before arrival.

Early bird rate

Non-refundable - There is a charge for any changes after the reservation has been confirmed and there are no refunds for partial or total cancellations. 

Best flexible Rate

The reservation can be cancelled free of charge up to 1 day(s) before arrival - 6 p.m. If the reservation is cancelled after 6 p.m., the hotel reserves the right to charge 90% of the cost of the entire stay to the credit card.

Journey to destination

Parking - travelling by car?

We offer 20 private parking spots. You have the possibility to park at the hotel for EUR 15,00 per day. From January on, we also offer parking spots with charging station for electric cars. Accessible parking spots are free! Parking in the Schulz Hotel is subject to availability, reservation is not possible.

 

Alternatively, you will find another 365 parking spots nearby the Ostbahnhof.

Directions - Travelling by train or airplane?

Schulz Hotel is located only 300 Meters next to the trainstation Ostbahnof, where regional and long-distance transportation departs. 
Starting from main train station Berlin you can reach us within 15 minutes with the city train S3, S7 or S9 as well as regional train RB14 and RE7. 
From main train station you can reach airport Berlin Tegel with a bus (TXL). 
Arriving at airport Berlin Schönefeld? Just take regional trains RB14 or RE7 and reach us within 20 minutes without having to change.

The room climate in the guest rooms can be regulated by the guests. For ecological reasons the conditioning works only with closed windows, temperatures can only be lowered to a certain degree.

Our twin rooms are provided with two single beds. Double rooms offer a double bed.

Unfortunately, we do not offer allergy-friendly rooms in our house.

 Please also note that from time to time guests bring their dogs to our hotel. Please be aware of this, if you suffer from an animal hair allergy. Even if the rooms are thoroughly cleaned after each visit, we can not exclude the contact with animal hairs 100%.

Not 18 yet and travelling without legal guardian?

Are you under age (less than 18 years old) and travelling without legal guardian? Don’t worry, you don’t need to wait to become of age discover Berlin and you are already now welcome to stay at our hotel. All it takes is to send us the following documents:

One exception: If you are under age and travelling without legal guardian, it is unfortunately not possible to stay in a dorm/multibedroom. Please choose a private room.

Do you have a certain room request? For example, would you like to stay in a room on a higher floor, close to the elevator, with view on the river Spree or a particularly quiet room? Or would you like to stay in adjoining rooms with your fellow travelers or keep the same room for two consecutive bookings?

Please drop us a message. We will note your request in our booking system and will do our best, to provide you the kind of room you were asking for. However, this is based on availability on the day of arrival and can’t be guaranteed.

Special requests

Champagne bottle in the room? Roses on the bed? Balloons for the birthday? We feel very honored, that you are planning to spend the beautiful moments of your life in our hotel. However, unfortunately for logistical reasons we are not able to respond to special requests.

Payment

Payment - when and how do we pay?

Groups are charged a prepayment of 10 % of the total price after receiving the booking confirmation. The remaining amount will be charged 8 weeks before the day of arrival. You can pay by credit card or money transfer.

City Tax

The same applies for school or class trips which are approved by the school management and comply with the regulations of the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Science at school events. The Schulz Hotel GmbH must be provided with a relevant proof. Find a temporary parking bay for coaches directly in front of our hotel. This ensures a safe exit and a short distance to the hotel entrance with your luggage.

Our comfortable singles and double rooms provide a quiet space for teachers to retreat to. A good night’s sleep is important, after all, if you have to convey history, art and culture to your students the next day. Unfortunately, we do not offer allergy-friendly rooms in our house.

 Please also note that from time to time guests bring their dogs to our hotel. Please be aware of this, if you suffer from an animal hair allergy. Even if the rooms are thoroughly cleaned after each visit, we can not exclude the contact with animal hairs 100%.

 Are you suffering from a food allergy or intolerance from certain ingredients? Then please contact the catering staff directly on site to see what we can offer you. Otherwise you can also prepare your own food in our guest kitchen: Here you can cook and keep your food in the fridge.
