Affordable family hotel in Berlin

Anyone traveling with children looks forward not only to exciting new experiences and beautiful moments, but also to a safe spot that will replace one’s faraway home for a short time. The founders of Schulz Hotels – and many of our staff – have children of their own. And that’s why – right from the start – our family hotel in Berlin was conceived in such a way that young and old alike will feel at ease and be comfortable here! We offer steep family discounts so that you can spend your holiday budget on excursions and adventures.

Indeed, there is no charge for children accompanying their parents! Concretely, all children aged five and below can sleep in their parents’ bed at no extra cost. Youths up to 17 years of age overnight in the family room their parents booked free of charge.  Breakfast can be conveniently and flexibly booked at the reception. And the same applies here too: Children aged 5 and under eat for free. Six to 16-year-olds get a discount. Families with very young children can request a baby cot and a buggy at no extra cost. This is sure to make your family stay in Berlin pleasurable and relaxing!

Family room for four

We might not be “Hotel Mom” but we do offer a place full of love and caring. We keep the whole family together in a relaxing family room – your temporary home in Berlin – after a fun-filled, exciting day in the big city! Our rooms-for-four come with all the amenities you can’t fit into your suitcase (towels, grooming products and a hair dryer) as well as a satellite TV, desk and baby cot. Noise insulation and a climate control system ensure restful sleep. Bed-side reading lamps help ensure that differing sleep rhythms won’t keep anyone up. And best of all: We offer high-speed Wi-Fi that won’t cost you one extra cent!

We have comfortable double beds in the family rooms for parents or accompanying persons. In most rooms these can be pulled apart, if desired, to create two single beds instantly.  A great experience awaits kids in these rooms because they sleep on safe and comfy bunk beds. Apart from the fun factor, bunk beds also save a lot of space and help to create a child friendly environment. Christoph, who stayed at our family hotel in Berlin in November 2018 with his children, agrees that “kids love loft beds”. His overall verdict: “Very chic, new hotel with smart family rooms. We would come back here with pleasure!”

Child-friendly hotel in the center of Berlin

As already mentioned: We love children.  We welcome our littlest guests with lots of patience and tolerance – along with a small gift upon arrival. Teens, on the other hand, get to use of the Schulz Arena student lounge all for themselves on weekends. On some 100qm2 of space, they can listen to music, enjoy being amongst themselves, play table football or just chill. And if they still get bored, they can borrow – or trade – child-friendly literature at our library. Dogs, by the way, are also welcome for a small fee. Our four-legged friends are, after all, part of the family!

Schulz Hotels combines the comfort of a children’s hotel with the advantages of a family friendly hostel: Apart from a reception that is staffed 24/7 and high security standards, guests can also look forward to all the things they need when traveling: Washing machines and dryers, nappy-changing facility as well as a guest kitchen.  A great idea according to Heike, who stayed at the hotel with her two sons and a friend.  “We particularly liked the well-equipped guest kitchen. We got together here at the large dining table for cozy breakfasts.”  In addition to preparing inexpensive meals, the kitchen can also be used to prepare milk bottles or baby food for the little ones or just to store food in the refrigerator.

A lavish breakfast buffet with child-friendly options can be booked very flexibly at the reception. Berlin’s best family hotel also has an in-house café and a bar for the evening hours. Even those “hungry as a bear” will leave satisfied!

Discovering Berlin when traveling with kids

Adventure playgrounds, zoos, theater performances or museums – Berlin draws visitors with a wide range of attractions and exciting activities for your next family holidays. Experience history and culture first-hand and up-close here in the German capital. The East Side Gallery, a preserved part of the Berlin Wall, features countless colorful artworks that recollect the divided Cold War-era Germany. It’s a piece of hands-on history – and it’s located right next to our family hotel! Thanks to the central location of Schulz Hotel just across from Ostbahnhof railway station, the city’s many other attractions can be reached very easily using public transportation.

We compiled a list of great excursions in Berlin and Brandenburg for your city break:

  • Zoo Tierpark Berlin: In Europe’s biggest animal park you can observe elephants, tigers, polar bears and monkeys up close.
  • Lake Wannsee: Rent a paddle boat, watch swans or go swimming – spend some family time at one of Berlin’s 70 lakes during your summer holiday.
  • MACHmit! Museum for children: Touching and experimenting is encouraged – young visitors learn new things in a playful way at this fun museum.
  • Filmpark Babelsberg: Theme park featuring original settings from the movie and TV industry; 4 D films.
  • Tropical Island: Like a short tropical getaway – flamingos, water worlds and a tropical forest at the gates of Berlin.

Seen with a child’s eyes

Each and every child can and should paint – but not every child is given access to art via its family. As part of a pilot project, Achim Freyer, the well-known painter and director, hopes to boost the creativity of primary school pupils far outside of a school setting. One of the works of art is now on exhibit in the Schulz Hotel Berlin Wall.

Many still know him from his days as an inspector in the popular and long-running TV-show “Tatort”. Today the actor Peter Sodann is busy collecting the dreams and tears of the socialist East – as captured in books from the former East Germany. Anyone interested in browsing them will now find a cross-section of his collection in the Schulz Hotel Berlin Wall library.
